Part of Big Girls homework is to discuss the word of the day with the family and put it into a sentence. Yesterday's word was mere. Hubby sent her to me with the excuse that I'm better at English. She's allowed to use variants so after a little thought I came up with:
"Some people believe we are merely very complex arrangements of atoms"
Hubby had a little smile on his face and I laughed a little about what kind of discussion this might start. Big Girl was puzzled until Little Girl filled her in on what atoms are and I added a little explanation about physical matter. Philosophy, science and english all in the one sentence.
