On Sunday the kids and I went fishing with mum and dad ... have mentioned before I get seasick? The forecast was for 0.5-1m waves. The boat is stored in a shed at the marina so first it needed to be put in the water. The Boy was particularly fascinated ... for obvious reasons.
and the kids sitting in the front while we made our way out into the bay.
Here's Little Girl being a clown and avoiding the camera.
The Boy had a bit of fish early on ... but there was something wrong with the reel and the line got all tangled up which meant we were down to two rods.
Not long after this The Boy felt sick ... then was sick. I got him to sit up front with me and keep LOOKING AT THE HORIZON ... really ... look at the horizon ... look at the horizon ...
He was pretty miserable but after a bit perked up a little and wanted a biscuit to eat, which I gave him. It didn't stay down for long. In spite of my exhortations to watch the horizon as three boats went past and left us rocking even more he made use of the bucket again. I didn't mind just being able to sit up the front and daydream the morning away ... while staring at the horizon of course and watching the guy in the boat next to us pull in eight whiting.
Meanwhile Little Girl paired up with mum for spot of fishing ...
and Big Girl paired up with dad.
The girls actually enjoyed opening the pipis and cutting up the bait.
Our catch for the day: 3 puffer fish. Here's mum trying to get one off the line.
I'm pretty proud ... I successfully managed a fishing trip without being sick. All the kids were keen to go again, including The Boy, although we said he had to wait until he's a bit bigger. Monday the girls went out again with mum and dad. Big Girl hooked a whiting but it slipped off as she was reeling it in. They also caught an australian salmon but threw it back because they're not good eating.
