Day 20 - San Diego ... USS Midway, Harbour Cruise, Boogie Boarding

This morning we visited the USS Midway, a decommissioned aircraft carrier that has been turned into a museum. It was fascinating. The entrance fee also included the audio tour ... The Boy was too young to have one but Little Girl didn't want hers ... she was a bit freaked out by the Alcatraz one.

Here's where the enlisted men slept, there was very limited personal space.

The space gets bigger as you go up the heirachy.

Not my idea of fun ... laundry for the ship

...or cooking for all those men, both very big jobs.

There were planes to sit in.

My favourite part was the island tour, the bridge is very tight on space so they limit the number of people at one time. This was before GPS ...

Little girl sat in the captain's chair first.

Just down the street was the Harbour cruise. We did a one hour cruise to the south. Got good views of the naval ship yards ...

and Coronado bridge.

The navy seals training is run here and on the way back we got to see them practising.

In the afternoon the kids caught some waves on boogie boards.
