Today we drove to Zion National Park which is about 3hours from Las Vegas. Our room was ready so we checked in, got some lunch then caught the shuttle bus from our accommodation in Springdale to the national park (about 800 metres). A separate shuttle bus runs around the park. We stopped first at the three patriarchs.
We decided to do the Emerald pools walk. The first part to the Lower Emerald Pools is an easy walk along a paved path. A fine mist of water drops down over the lip of the cliff. You walk in behind the waterfall.
The walk up to the middle pools is a bit steeper but the kids love climbing and clambering over rocks.
The middle pools:
The trail to the Upper Pools was even more difficult but fairly short. The kids want to come on this walk again tomorrow. We saw some wildlife ... oops that would be The Boy.
Then we walked back. We were almost back to the end of the trail when Big Girl shouted "Aaahh! Look out!" It took me a while to work out what she was referring to. I almost walked on this.
We were in the middle of a wildlife spotting competition. Hubby had just declared his spotting of a frog was equivalent to 5 lizard spottings ... we unanimously agreed that Big Girl's find trumped everyone else.
Apart from that beast this really is a beautiful part of the world.
