Cutesy Kind of Love

This month one of the kits from nuts4digi that I worked with was Deanna Patterson's Cutesy Kind of Love Bundle. This is a beautiful girly kit with green, blue, red and pink. The papers feature a range of patterns, some doodled, some traditional, heritage style patterns. There are heaps of elements in the collection, including ready to go clusters and embellished frames, bows, curly ribbons, flowers, buttons and the most gorgeous doodles. Also included in the bundle are crumpled and torn solid papers and some quick pages.

The Moon Shines Down

The Moon Shines Down by Margaret Wise Brown

The manuscript for this story by Margaret Wise Brown, the author of Goodnight Moon, was found after sitting for decades in a dusty trunk. The story is based on the New England prayer “God Bless the Moon and God Bless Me” and reminds us of the important truth that just as the same moon shines down on all people, so God looks with love on all people.

The brightly coloured illustrations by Linda Bleck are charming; my five year old son loved the “huge” moon that shone down on the children from all different countries. The cutest koala is the main character. We had great fun is searching him out on each page as he travels from land to land.

The story incorporates rhyme and repetition making it a good choice for preschoolers who love to follow along and join in some of the reading. It has become a popular bedtime selection at our house and I would recommend it for children aged 3-6 years old.

This Year ...

With the kids all at school this year I've had quite a few people asking me what I plan to do with myself. Usually I just laugh and say don't worry, I'll be able to amuse myself. Seriously there's been things I've put off for too long that I need to do and I've also picked up a few new activities.

  1. The cupboards, filing cabinet and my hard drive all need a thorough clean out and declutter, and I also need to get our tax done.
  2. I want to get stuck into the family albums and get a few books printed.
  3. I love to read so I'll try to do a bit more of that now the kids are a bit more independent.
  4. On a related note I was accepted as a book review blogger so I'll be reviewing some books on my blog this year. Hopefully I'll have my first ready by tomorrow.
  5. I'm still CTing at nuts4digi and I'm continuing on Donna Duncombe' team as well.
  6. Hubby cleaned out the vege garden over summer so I hope to start planting soon.
  7. I'm going ahead with mentoring at a local high school, just waiting to be allocated someone.
  8. I took on leadership of our small group for this year as well.
  9. I'm also going to help out at the kids schools this year which will be easier now I don't have anyone at home. So tuckshop, reading and PMP here I come.
That should keep me out of mischief. Number 1 for a start will probably take me a while.

I'm Now Mum to 3 School Kids

Today was The Boy's first day at school. Excitement reigned and he was all smiles. Little Girl not so much but at least she was reasonably cooperative.
